Bertha is the legendary cow of Gastein Moonshine – strong, loud, chaotic and warm at the same time. She loves wrestling (especially Lucha Libre in Mexico), dreams of becoming the most famous female wrestler in the country and her elixir of life is mango habanero liqueur. Bertha embodies pleasure, fire, joie de vivre and unconventional strength – and is therefore the face of our Mango Habanero liqueur.
Behind MaHa Shot is Gastein Moonshine – a creative collective from the Gastein Valley. With a flair for good taste and a cow called Bertha, Gastein Moonshine came up with the idea of pairing sweet mango with fiery habanero in a liqueur: the original from Bad Gastein.
The Mango Habanero liqueur from Gastein Moonshine tastes intensely fruity with the natural sweetness of ripe mangoes – a fine but clearly noticeable Habanero chilli spiciness unfolds in the finish. A perfectly balanced mix of exotic fruitiness and gentle heat.

Mild to medium. Mango first, habanero a beat later: it warms the throat and fades instead of sticking around. If you like spicy food you'll find it pleasant; if you never eat chilli, you'll definitely notice it.
We don't print a Scoville number on purpose. Scoville measures the chilli, not the finished liqueur, where it shares the glass with mango and sugar. Ice-cold as a shot or mixed into a cocktail, the heat stays well in check.
Properly hot. Fresh habaneros usually land around 100,000 to 350,000 Scoville. A jalapeño sits at roughly 2,500 to 8,000. How hot a single pod gets depends on variety, ripeness and growing conditions.
What makes the habanero special is less the number than the shape of the heat: it builds over a few seconds and fades slowly, and it tastes of something, fruity and floral. Those figures are for the fresh chilli, not a drink. In a liqueur it is heavily diluted. More in our guide to spicy liqueur.

In everyday speech, yes — people search for it both ways. Formally there is a difference: schnapps is distilled and unsweetened, whereas a liqueur has sugar added and a lower alcohol content. MaHa Shot is a liqueur at 20% vol, which is exactly why the mango stays fruity instead of being burned away by alcohol. More on the category in our guide to mango liqueur.
A chilli liqueur is a sweetened spirit that gets its heat from real chillies rather than from flavouring. In MaHa Shot the chilli is a habanero, which brings a warm, slow, rounded heat instead of a sharp bite — and it sits behind the mango rather than in front of it. Our guide to spicy liqueur compares the heat levels in detail.
Far less frightening than the word suggests. MaHa Shot is mild to medium: the habanero arrives a beat after the mango, warms the throat and fades. It is designed to be drunk as a shot or in a cocktail, not as a dare — enough heat to notice, never enough to drown the fruit.
Yes. Under EU spirit drink rules a liqueur is one of the defined categories of spirit drink, so MaHa Shot is a spirit in the liqueur category — 0.7 l at 20% vol. That is also why it is sold only to adults of legal drinking age.
