MaHa Spicy Tonic
Two ingredients, one glass, thirty seconds. The MaHa Spicy Tonic is the drink to make when people are already in the kitchen and nobody wants to watch you shake anything.
Tonic is the right partner because it does not try to be sweet. Its quinine bitterness runs straight underneath the mango and gives the Mango Habanero liqueur something to push against, while the carbonation lifts the habanero off the palate before it can settle into anything heavy. Fresh lime keeps the whole thing upright. What you get is long, dry, faintly tropical, with a warmth that shows up on the finish and then politely leaves.
Fill the glass with ice — properly full, not three cubes — so the tonic stays cold and keeps its bubbles. Pour the liqueur and lime over the ice, add the tonic last, and stir once. At 20% vol in a long glass this drinks light, which is exactly why it works on an afternoon. A lime wheel and a slice of mango, and you are done.
